Every year, we read a book called Stone Soup with our preschoolers. The book talks about some travelers who carry nothing but a large empty cooking pot, and they go to a stream, fill it with water, and place a stone in it. Slowly, the villagers show interest and the travelers tell them that they are making "stone soup", which tastes wonderful, although it still needs a little bit of garnish to improve the flavour, which they are missing. The villagers begin to one by one add their own ingredients until a delicious pot of soup is ready to feed them all! Our preschoolers had so much fun making their own "stone soup" and deciding what they each wanted to add to it! |
