The Grade schoolers took a hike around Cat Haven and learned all about different cats, and what makes them unique. Our trail guides who have raised most of these big cats from kittens, would bring them right up to the front of the enclosures for us to see. The male lion is Cous Cous he is a Barbary lion which are now extinct the only barbary lions are in captivity. The Jaguar is Juanita, their jaws are so strong they can crack a bowling ball in half and Jaguars used to be found right here in California. The Clouded Leopard is Cam-Lo and is the most acrobatic cat in trees, in fact they spend most of their time up in trees hunting monkeys. The leopard is Kalara and she can jump over twenty feet in one leap, they can also carry prey two to three times heavier than themselves up a tree. The last picture is of Sikia she is a Serval, they are known to have very good hearing, they can hear mice running around under ground.
