Our preschool program is currently focusing on “Spring” and this time of year offers a huge array of activities and resources for the children to enjoy. The first week of April concentrates on birds, butterflies and caterpillars and the preschool classes spent a wonderful week reading stories such as The Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle, creating their own butterfly craft, and tracking the progress of the classroom’s live caterpillars who were in the process of transforming from the chrysalis stage into Monarch Butterflies. The children’s week ended just as the next phase of the caterpillar’s lives began, and the completion of the transformation stage was celebrated with the release of the butterflies into the air above the preschool playground. What a great way to complete the week, and what a wonderful way to celebrate Spring! |
