While taking a field trip to the United States postal office the children gained knowledge about many things that go on inside a post office. First, the children received stamps on their hands saying they were “small packages” that were going to be delivered. Next, the mail service attendant took us on a tour of the lobby. The children individually handed their valentines letters to the service clerk and he showed them how mail is weighed. After that transaction was made the kids personally acquired their own receipt!!! Last, but not least, the most stimulating part was when the children saw how the mail is taken out of the large post office boxes and emptied into the enormous bins to be taken to the back to be sorted and delivered. Upon leaving the children were given a special treat by the mailwoman, they were given pencils that were labels “United Stats Postal Services”!
