The children brought in a rock from home to study and share with their friends at school. We used magnifying glasses and brushes to identify and study these rocks. The children also discovered the difference in each rock, in the shape, size, color and texture. As the children passed the rocks around they noticed that some were smooth and some were rough. Some of the rocks were heavy and some were light. We also learned how rocks were created and even try making our own rocks with a dough recipe and coffee grains, these rocks sure smelled good! Towards the end of our study, the children got to decorate their own rocks to make their very own pet rocks! Some chose to paint it while others chose to put eyes on their rocks. The children enjoyed this study very much, they took their pet rocks home and promised to take good care of them!
